Learning music from my children
My school, many years ago, never taught me anything about classical music. It was my children when they were young who taught me. We used to get weekly magazines that concentrated each week on one composer. With the magazine came cassettes with excerpts of that composer's works. My wife and I would play these to our children, and gradually I began to know more pieces and slowly as they were regularly replayed (frequently as a kind of family quiz game) they became well known and loved. So I must say thank you to my son and daughter for helping to teach me classical music.
