By Popular Request - Deutsche Grammophon Continues The Celebration of 111 Years of Excellence With Two New Limited Edition Box-Sets

Of course we are now 112 years old! But the three levels of the 111 concept - covering repertoire, artists and our label identity - struck a deep chord with you, our fans. Not only were the limited edition box-sets wiped off shop shelves within a few weeks of release, but we and our colleagues were inundated with calls and emails from frustrated fans looking for copies to buy the world over. Together with a new 6-CD set of 111 artists x 111 tracks, we have therefore decided to reprint last year’s 55-CD Collector’s Edition box-set as well as bring out a new 2^nd edition – and continue to brand them 111. And this time there is a total of 56 CDs, bringing the combined number of discs in both Collector’s Edition boxes to – what else? – a round 111!

This second limited-edition collection of landmark albums from the Deutsche Grammophon catalogue introduces over 20 new names to the roster of artists who appeared in The Collector’s Edition 1. Retaining the same format, it presents 53 original albums from the past and the present that have won accolades and gained classic status. With original cover art and a richly documented booklet, it makes an essential complement to the first set.

111 More Classic Tracks carries on from where 111 Classic Tracks of 2009 left off. In another mesmerizing journey through the history of Deutsche Grammophon recording from the beginnings to the present day, it brings together 111 artists who have made their mark on the label, in music of an extraordinary variety, from Machaut to Gershwin to Golijov – not forgetting the great names of the Classical and Romantic eras.

The Collector's Edition

This unique limited-edition, specially priced collection of 55 CDs contains landmark recordings from DG‘s past to present. Most titles are as originally programmed, in their original cover-art and feature artists from Claudio Abbado to Christian Zimerman – and span musical genres from Monteverdi to Pärt.

111 Classic Tracks on 6 CDs offers 111 tracks from 111 artists who have contributed to Deutsche Grammophon's 111-year history - up until the present day. The roster spans Enrico Caruso and Richard Strauss – from the beginning of recording history - to such recent artists as Yuja Wang and Mojca Erdmann.
